Frequently Asked Questions

Basic Information…

  • If I’m interested in training, what is the best way to get started?
    • New clients interested in bringing their dog for training or daycare must schedule an evaluation with our trainers first. Evaluation credits are valid up to one month after the appointment.
  • What happens during dog daycare?
    • Dogs play and socialize together in a safe and controlled environment during their stay. If your dog is willing, we also put them on the treadmill, go for one-on-one walks outside or hikes on our trail, and have fun with them in our play yards!
  • I’m experiencing biting and people/dog aggression with my dog, what would be the best training to sign up for?
    • An evaluation is scheduled for any dog showing this type of behavior. Our trainers may recommend a Board & Train program to ensure long term success in changing the dog’s behavior and correcting the aggression issues. Any dog showing this type of behavior is going to require a rehabilitation plan to unteach them the dangerous behaviors they have been practicing.
  • What should I bring if my dog is coming for boarding?
    • We require you to bring enough food for your dog for their entire reservation. Clients are not encouraged to bring personal items. We have buckets of toys, treats, beds for every kennel, blankets, and towels we can put in with your dog if you think it would make their stay more comfortable.
  • What group training classes do you offer?
    • We currently offer 4 different training classes that cover leash training, handler skills, behavior correction, and more. Each class is catered to specific dog age groups and specific training techniques. See our services page for more information!
  • What grooming services do you offer?
    • We no longer offer any grooming services.

Scheduling Services…

  • If I have never done boarding or daycare with your facility before, can I just drop off my dog or do I have to schedule it?
    • All services need to be scheduled in advance so that our trainers and staff know how to best care for your dog while it’s with us. It helps us keep our staff safe, as well as provide the best experience for your dog and the other dogs at our facility. If we have never met your dog before, we require that they come for a daycare session to be approved for boarding.
  • How far in advance do I need to schedule services for my dog?
    • Our schedule fills up quickly, and we cannot guarantee availability if services are requested only a few days in advance. Preferred scheduling time is 4-5 weeks in advance. If you are not yet established as a client, please contact us at least two months before a boarding need.
  • If I need to pick up my dog later in the evening, is that an option?
    • Pick-up time is from 4-6pm. We have group classes that start at 6:30, so if you do not come before 6pm to pick up your dog, we will board them for the night and you will be able to pick them up the next morning from 7:00-9:00am.
  • Is it possible for me to drop my dog off after 9am for daycare?
    • Dogs coming for daycare must arrive before 9am. If you make it here before 9:30am there will be a late fee added to your account. We cannot accept any dogs after 9:30am because we have to start our daily schedule. It is a safety concern for our dogs and staff to have other dogs walking around outside the facility without our awareness.
  • How much does it cost for me to board my dog?
    • Boarding is $40 a night. This covers the amount of care that we put into each dog while at our facility. Dogs are let out of their kennel every hour to hour and a half, at a minimum. This means that they are getting out of their kennel anywhere from 8-10 times a day for potty breaks, play time, walks, and more! Regardless of taking up a kennel space, it’s the care that we provide that makes it worth the cost!
  • If something comes up and I need to schedule next day services, can I do that?
    • Scheduling next day services is possible, but we cannot guarantee availability. Best chance of getting in last minute is to call the office at 740-447-5131.

Other…

  • It’s been a couple of years since I last came to your facility for anything. Can I still schedule daycare?
    • Due to new policies that started on March 1, 2019, clients that we have not worked with for a few years must schedule an evaluation to introduce them to our staff and our new routine. We will likewise require updated paperwork and current vaccination records for your dog.
  • Where can I get the proper training tools to ensure training happens at my home and not just at your facility?
    • We provide most of our clients with the necessary training tools they will need to implement training in their home. We sell collars, leashes, muzzles, and more to help with training. It is not recommended for clients to go online and purchase such items without receiving the proper training themselves on how and when to use such tools. Often times, it is the owner who needs the training more than the dog!
  • Can I schedule an evaluation for a trainer to come to my house if I don’t live in Athens?
    • All evaluations take place at our training facility so that our trainers can work with the dog for an extended period of time without any additional distractions that might occur in the home. Once the evaluation is completed, we may then schedule for our trainers to travel for private training sessions. They will travel up to an hour outside the Athens, OH area for an additional $25-35 travel fee.
  • How long does training take?
    • Our training plans are customized to each dog. Training for some dogs may take a day or two, and others may take years. Our trainers will work with you to achieve the goals set for your dog and recommend a timeline to reach those goals.
  • If I can’t schedule an evaluation during office hours, can I schedule something in the evenings or on the weekends?
    • Evaluations are scheduled Monday – Friday, allowing our trainers select times on the weekends to travel for private training sessions or other appointments. Because of the time needed to evaluate a dog, we need your dog to be at our facility for an entire day to determine the best course of action for training.
  • What if I’m not happy with the services I have received?
    • If you feel like our services did not meet your expectations, please contact us and ask for Rosanne Eigel. We care about the overall experience and outcome of our services and will do everything we can to make things right.
